1. Pay-to-Click (PTC)

Yes, they are often scams, and yes, they only earn you a few cents to a dollar a day, butPTC sites are one of the most common, most easy, and most lazy methods of earning money online, and it has a lot of potential to boot. It basically comes down to clicking ads everyday for a company that hosts them, which you get payed money for (usually around 1c a click). The number of ads range from site to site, and have a limit everyday. If you did this slowly you would earn around 10c a day, which really isn’t much.

But the real potential stands in the referral system. In most websites you can have people signing up under you. Their account has nothing changed, its just that you get benefits. When they click on ads, their profits go to you too. So lets say you make 10c a day, and have 9 friends signing up under you; you will get $1 a day. The more referrals you get, the more you earn. The problem lies in getting referrals in the first place. Some sites sell referrals, but they aren’t garunteed to be active (they still have to click ads for you to get the bonus).

2. Writing Content

Article writing is basically what the name implies. You write articles; what it’s about, format etc depends on the site. You write articles either for a website, or your own blog. You usually get paid on amount of views, approval rating etc, and the amount varies.

If you put a lot of effort into it, and write a lot of good articles, you can earn quite a lot. But doing that is a bit time consuming (unless you enjoy writing). The sorts of articles you can write depends on sites, things can range from reviews, to essays, to just a blog of your life.

So, where can you do this? Well, there are some sites like Triond and About.com that share advertising revenue with their content creators. There are also sites that pay you to blog like PayPerPost.

3. Starting your own blog or website

If there’s something you’re very passionate about, perhaps you should think about starting a blog or website about that subject. You never know, you might just become the expert in your field. Here, you can earn money while doing what you love!

So how do you make money from this? You apply to get these ads from several different companies, they will usually inspect your site, and if they find it appropriate, they will give you ads suitable for your website. Most probably, when someone clicks on that ad, the advertising company gets money from people who wanted to publish that ad in the first place, and part of that profit returns to you.

The returns vary on the company, the type of ad, etc. Therefore this method, if you pick the right companies, can have very beneficial returns, the main problem is getting people to click on them. 4. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing involves making a partnership with another company for either you to sell their products on your site or simply directly to another person, or for them to sell your product on theirs. This is a win for both parties, as the seller is widening their audience, allowing greater sales.

The host gets more attention to their site, and is paid part of the profits by the seller, a certain margin, usually around 10-20% of the product’s cost. Depending on what you sell you can earn quite a bit of money, but remember part of the profits go to the other party, so it’s always better to do it yourself!

5. Buying items cheap, selling it expensive

This way of making money is very similar to affiliate marketing, except the items are yours. Basically, you get something for a low price (you can sell pretty much anything on the internet), and you sell it off for a higher price. Depending on what you are selling you can earn quite a lot.

You may also be interested in selling off your old items on a site like Ebay, antiques and unique items can be worth a lot, and you may be surprised what people will buy. The main difference between this and affiliate marketing is that while the profits go mainly to the company selling their products, since this is your own, you get the profits, you can set your own prices etc.

6. Farming Gold in WoW

This is a method that many people probably can’t or won’t do, but it is a valid method, and with hard effort, can be worth the effort. Game merchanting or Gold Farming is basically where you gather something rare within a online game, and you sell it for real life money. The most common example would be gold farming; this is where you aquire large amounts of money in-game and sell it for real money to other players. Another is making a very good in-game character and selling the account for a large sum of money. This method requires a lot of time (to aquire the in-game items) but it usually pays out very well. Some rare in-game items can be sold for over a hundred dollars apiece, and good game accounts can be sold for a few hundred.

7. Completing surveys

This method is where you have to complete surveys for companies by either answering questions, by simply selecting an answer, or writing full paragraph responses. Depending on which site, the pay can be very good. You can end up earning hundreds in a month by completing a large number of surveys. They usually aren’t very hard to do either.

However, those sites that aren’t scams are sites with real customers looking for legitimate research, so be prepared to know what you’re responding on.

8. Completing offers and trials

This method is one that has had much controversial debate over it. This is where you complete a usually free offer/trial for a site, and get a number of referrals to do the same, and you get something in return. What you get can range from actual money to an Ipod or a home entertainment system. The debate is if these actually work or if they are a scam.

Both sides are correct actually. Some really are legitimate and have been tested by major news companies, while others are a outright scam, where you don’t get anything in the end. 9. Working for a professional site

This is pretty much office work, done at home. You can work for a professional site (games, news, there are all sorts) and do things such as write articles for them, moderate their site etc. This usually comes at a wage based on how much you complete, and is usually time consuming (in some cases full time). Applying to sites like these requires a full resume, and you would usually have to be an active member of their community, but just like an office job. But the pay’s good.

10. Freelance Jobs

Freelance jobs is the one of the best methods of earning money online. Because of that it is also the hardest. Freelance working basically means you let people hire you to do one-off jobs for them in your field of profession. This may be coding a website, designing a logo or making an advanced Flash animation; the list goes on and on. You usually have to be quite good in your field, otherwise other freelance workers will be picked over you. This may sound hard, but the rewards are quite good.

Depending on who hired you, the amount of attention the particular job has, and your personal skill, you could get payed a few thousand dollars for completing a single job. Those are some of the best jobs, which could take some time to complete, while there are also jobs that could be done in an hour, but with significantly less pay. This is the best way of earning money, and if you are skilled in any field (be it flash-work, or a very good writer etc) you should give it a shot.
